Boiler Training Courses

JBC training provides the following courses for those responsible for owning and operating steam and hot water boiler plant. We provide courses for specialist needs and bepoke boiler engineer training to suit client's needs.

Courses will result in Boiler Operator Certification where appropriate, ensuring your key staff and operatives are Certified Industrial Boiler Operative (CIBO) standard.

JBC provide training courses for specific boiler plant & designs such as thermal oil plant and high pressure steam generators. We offer bespoke training including ‘first point maintenance’, energy efficiencies and cost sharing, water treatment & chemicals and steam utilisation & best practise.

All courses are are approved and run in association with Gastec CEA and The Carbon Trust.

Boiler Operative Accreditation Scheme (BOAS)

Duration 5 Days - Classroom or Site Based.

This course will provide delegates with a knowledge of all current legislation and environmental requirements and an indepth understanding of the need for safe operational requirements and how this influences personal performance and plant output.


BOAS Refresher Course

Duration 2 Days - Site or Classroom based.

As part of maintaining your CEA accreditation you are required to undergo both a refresher and re-assessment every 5 years.


Maintenance & Operation of Boiler (MOB)

Duration 2 Days - Site Based.

An intensive course designed to provide boiler operators, maintenance staff, plant technicians and boiler engineers a thorough grounding in the everyday operation and maintenance of boilers, burners and boiler plant equipment.

The course also covers the relevant Health and Safety issues, fault identification and emergency situations.


Safe Operation & Boiler Awareness (SOBA)

Duration 1 Day - Site Based.

This introductory course is designed to provide a basic understanding of the everyday operation of steam boiler plant. Content includes the essential daily and weekly routines, boiler fittings, water treatment, combustion, emergencies and Health & Safety issues.


Boiler Operative Health & Safety (BOSH)

Duration 1 day - Site based.

Risk Assessment is something that we carry out every day without often thinking, however we need to take extra care identifying problem areas relating to steam plant. This course is an introduction for the need for risk assessment, identification of risks/hazards and a suitable control hierarchy.
